卒業が目の前で「夢」がよく話題となる。英語でも最後の単元はMy Future My Dream。子どもたちが色々な思いがあり、簡単に英語が出てこない。こういう時だからこそ発想を働かせることがオススメです。インタネットから面白い動物の写真からその動物が得意なこと、入りたい部活、そして楽しみたいイベントをみんなで考えておく。
導入の時点で「good at…」「want to join/enjoy」を多く聞かせる土台を作っておくことが大事です。What is the cat good at? Yes, the cat is good at science. Is the cat good at sports or music? Music? What can the cat play, the piano or drums?Oh I see the cat is good at playing the piano. Does the cat want to join the brass band? What does the cat want to enjoy? Ah the cat wants to enjoy the chorus contest. The cat wants to play the piano in the chorus contest.
ゆっくりと話し「good at」「want to join／enjoy」を使う度に黒板を指して、音声と英語をさらに結びつかせる。最後にクラスで作った紹介の英文を児童から引き出す。今日作った文は
I am Hiroshi.
I am good at science.
I am good at playing the piano .
I can play NekoFunjatta.
I want to join the brass band club.
次に中学校でのイベントを板書し、隣にそのイベントで活かしたい特技も書きました。
sports day/running, school festival/drawing, dance festival/dancing. これを参考にし児童たちが様々なイベントと理由を書くことができました。
実は今回は「interesting」から「interested in」という表現に発展しようと専科の先生の提案で「good at」と「interested in」を中心に進むことにしました。こうすることによって「I am not good at playing sports, but I am interested in soccer.」という文も作ることができます。
